The World Bank supports launching of new Russian economics journal

Available in: Russian

June 19, 2006 - The Academy of the National Economy (of the Russian government) and the Institute for the Economy in Transition have launched a new economics journal, Ekonomicheskaya Politika (Economic Policy). The Chief Editor of the Journal is the Rector of the Academy of the National Economy, Vladimir Mau.

Relative to other existing Russian economics journals, this publication will be devoted to the dissemination of high quality economics research and ideas of particular policy relevance for Russia. In addition to applied economic studies on Russia, this includes articles on economic history or international experience, as well as the elaboration of policy debates within the government and economics community.

The first issue (March 2006) includes articles from Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref, the Head of the Economics Direction of the Administration of the President, Arkady Dvorkovich, Former Prime Minister Yegor Gaidar, World Bank Chief Economist Francois Bourguignon, and other distinguished economists and policymakers.

The journal is aimed at economists, students of economics, and policymakers within Russia.

"I'm sure, that this journal will be a valuable addition to economics publications in Russia in providing
both a forum for high-level policy debates, as well as a more rapid dissemination of ideas from world experience and economics literature of relevance to the country"
- said Kristalina Georgieva, The World Bank Country Director for Russia.

This journal is available at  Public Information Center.
